Era of  Mozaffar al-din Shah Qajar

   Mozaffar al-din Shah Qajar* is the fifth king of this dynasty. The importance of this era is due to his acceptance toward the constitution and foundation of the National Assembly of Iran. He reigned for 11 years and the style of coins in this era were kept the same until the end of the Qajar era.

2000 Dinars

   A 2000 Dinar coin with the portrait of Mozaffar al-din Shah Qajar. These coins were minted on several different occasions like his access to the throne or his birthday which these occasions are sometimes mentioned on the coin. Coins with his portrait are found in the denominations of 2000 & 5000 Dinars. These coins are rare and fake coins are more prevalent than the original ones. (Actually the one shown above is a fake coin!!).

   Obverse: Emblem of the Lion & sun with the Kiani crown. Script: 2000 Dinars.

   Reverse: Portrait of Mozaffar al-din shah Qajar. Script: in Farsi: "Assoltaan Mozaffar ed'din Shah-e Qajar, Shahanshah-e Iran" ( The king Mozaffar al-din Shah Qajar,  king of kings of Iran). Date: 1323 A.H. (Lunar) = ~1905

 


2 Qeraans

Obverse: Emblem of the Lion & sun with the Kiani crown. Script: 2 Qeraans. Date: 1322 (1903).
Reverse:  The Kiani crown with the script " Assoltaan Mozaffar-eddin Shah Qajar" (The king Mozaffar al-din Shah Qajar).


5000 Dinars

                    Obverse: Emblem of the Lion & sun . Script: 5000 Dinars.
Reverse:  The Kiani crown with the script " Assoltaan Mozaffar-eddin Shah Qajar" (The king Mozaffar al-din Shah Qajar) ; Date: 1320 A.H. (Lunar) = ~1902.

Reverse: Portrait of Mozaffar al-din shah Qajar. Script: in Farsi: "Assoltaan Mozaffar ed'din Shah-e Qajar, Shahanshah-e Iran" ( The king Mozaffar al-din Shah Qajar,  king of kings of Iran).  On the sides: "Sekkeye moloode homaayuni"  (The memorial coin of the royal birthday) , Date: 1322 A.H. (Lunar) = ~1904

Similar gold coins were mint on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Mozaffar al-din shah Qajar. These coins are faked so much during recent years, so take care while buing similar coins.

                    Obverse:  Script in Persian: ""Assoltaan -e alazam va-alkhaaghan-e alafkham Mozaffar ed'din Shah-e Qajar" ( The great sultan and the dignified leader, king Mozaffar al-din Shah Qajar) .Date: 1314 A.H. (Lunar) = ~1896-1897
Reverse: Portrait of Mozaffar al-din shah Qajar.  


* The name "Mozaffar al-din" means the victor of religion and is read as "Mozaffar ed'din" in Farsi.
