Commemorative coins of the 2500th anniversary of
 foundation of the Persian Empire

    1971

The second type of coins consists of 9 coins, 4 in gold and 5 in silver. These coins, which can be called as the first class coins, were designed and minted in France on the order of the Imperial court of Iran. The whole set were placed in a luxurious box that had a golden peacock on it; with the script of 'Empire of Iran' below it. But there were also smaller sets that contained one or more coins. The coverage of such sets was a blue leather bag with the emblem of the Lion & sun printed on it. In each case there existed a small pamphlet about the weight and images of the coins. What makes these coins more different from the other ones, is the symbolic values mentioned on the coins that begins from 25 Rials to 2000 Rials. A complete UNC silver set worths now  for around $135. In this page you can see photos of the silver coins. For gold coins, go to the next page.
